Shop at Kroger on Saturday, February 5th, 2011
from 8am to 5pm and Share some of the
items you are buying!
Letter From The First Lady All of us are aware of the terrible crime of domestic violence. And whether we know it or not, many of us have friends or family members who have been victims themselves. As First Lady, I have had the opportunity to visit with victims of domestic violence in shelters across the state. And as these individuals struggle to regain control of their lives, shelters struggle to provide the simple necessities that most of us take for granted, like canned food, soap and diapers.
This is why I am asking for your help. “Shop and Share Day” is Saturday, Feb. 5, at Kroger locations across the state. We are still looking for volunteers to help collect donated items at Kroger stores between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Volunteers will be given a list of items that are needed for shelters and bins for the items being collected. To sign up for a time, visit the volunteer sign-up page: http://firstlady.ky.gov/shopshare.htm.
I would like to thank all of you who have already volunteered your time to help with “Shop and Share Day.” Just a few hours of your time can have a positive impact on the lives of domestic violence victims. Also, as you do your weekly shopping, please consider donating items for this important cause.
